Entering into counseling can be a rewarding but challenging experience. It requires a commitment to changing behaviors, thoughts, and relationship patterns that maybe negatively affecting your life. If you are feeling distress in your life, or have experienced difficult things in the past, therapy can assist you to live a more fulfilling life. Therapy is not a cure, it is a process for working towards your personal goals and a journey for inner healing.
Counseling will begin with an assessment of symptoms, family history, current stressors, social supports, negative coping behaviors, past therapy and medication use. From there, you and I will develop goals for treatment and discuss a treatment modality to achieve those goals.
Therapy consists of CBT(Cognitive Behavior Therapy),Person-centered focus, specialized therapies (below),stress management, and communication/relationship skills.
Evidenced based treatment using bilateral eye movements for neurobiologic regulation of past trauma or past pain.
Evidenced based treatment using Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness skills to assist in managing life stressors, up and down moods, and to reduce destructive behaviors.
